Neglect

My poor blog must feel neglected, if blogs feel such things.

I've been writing a lot. Mostly, I've been focusing on books for children. They're fun and have a subtle complexity that gets overlooked. I took a children's writing class a couple of years ago, am thinking about maybe doing a low-residency children's writing MFA. There are a couple of them out there, but I'd like to know that their professional success rate is. Not sure where to find that out. How many of their students actually go on to be published?

I have one of my books (an early-reader chapter book) with an agent right now. Not sure if she's read it yet, or if she'll decide to add me to her list. Hope so.

I'm also doing rewrites on a screenplay and reading scripts for the Austin Film Festival. Don't worry. I can do it all!!! Some stories lend themselves to screenplays, some to books, you can't force something into the wrong format. Therefore - gotta write books and screenplays.

Anyway, that's what's going on.

About Me

I was born and reared in Austin, Texas, where I attended three elementary schools, three middle schools, one high school, and one university. I've backpacked through Europe, gone on an archeological dig in the Belizean rainforest, scuba dived through the Atlantic reefs, and skydived over San Marcos. And, while hang-gliding turned out not to be for me, I did give it a shot.
